My background is in accounting + marketing. An unusual combination, to be sure.
But I have a ton of value to offer my clients because I ‘get’ business. I understand business objectives, strategies + challenges and how marketing fits in. Yet I also enjoy thinking outside the box + developing creative ways to drive at the bottom line.

The accounting piece
I got a formal education in accounting for two main reasons:
1) I wanted the most challenging + comprehensive business education possible because I wanted to know precisely how to run a successful business.
2) I wanted job security.
I graduated at the top of my class and set out to pursue goal #1.
I worked in both corporate and public accounting roles, as an analyst, assistant controller, and auditor. I saw the inner workings of companies in many industries, including retail, nonprofit, insurance, financial services, consulting, telecommunications, advertising, engineering, and real estate.
I saw businesses thrive + fail, grow + change.
And just as I set out to do, I learned a ton about how to run one.
The marketing piece
In one of my accounting jobs, I was fortunate enough to work for a CPA-turned-entrepreneur (ha!) who put my curiosity, creativity + ambition into overdrive by giving me two desks: one for my accounting work + one vacated by the creative director (my new mission, should I choose to accept it). Good thing I love a challenge!
So I did what any job-security-loving employee would do. I accepted the challenge and set out to learn everything I possibly could about marketing. Why? Because you can have the greatest company in the world, with the best systems + strategies. But if no one knows it exists, how do you become successful?
I realized early on in my career that business communications are as important as business strategies. In fact, if they’re done right, they ARE business strategies. What we say, as well as where, when + how we say it, can make or break the critical relationships we form with our staff, clients + prospects.
I truly found my passion in marketing and spent the next 10+ years of my career getting an on-the-job education. I learned about strategy + branding, research, lead generation, web design, advertising, copywriting, layout, content marketing, proposal writing, presentations, PR, email marketing, direct response marketing, social media…you name it!
…And the aha moment
Working for other companies, I kept hitting a wall of frustration with the level of impact I was able to make. I wanted to apply both my business acumen AND my creativity to solve problems.
So, I finally took the leap in 2013 and started this business. I absolutely LOVE what I do and the difference I’m able to make for my clients. I get to craft business communications that generate leads, build relationships, and increase revenue for passionate entrepreneurs and small business owners. As someone whose goal is to make an impact, it doesn’t get much better than that!
